The challenge: more patients, fewer staff – increasing strain

The healthcare sector is under immense pressure: rising patient numbers, staff shortages, and increasing cost pressures are forcing hospitals to work more efficiently – without compromising the quality of care. At the same time, patient transport is one of the most physically demanding tasks in everyday hospital operations. Pushing hospital beds requires considerable force, leads to awkward postures, and places strain on the back, muscles, and joints – especially on inclines, when maneuvering, or during sudden movements.

The result:

  • High physical and mental strain
  • Increasing sickness-related absences
  • Inefficient use of scarce staff resources

The solution: intelligent mobility that supports you like a second person

WeAssist™ is an innovative mobility solution that fundamentally changes patient transport. Using an intelligent algorithm, the system recognizes the caregiver’s movement inputs and automatically assists with almost every maneuver. The principle is simple – similar to an e-bike: the person sets the direction. The system provides the power.

The result:

  • Safe transport by just one person
  • Noticeably reduced physical effort
  • Intuitive use without training

The system gives you the feeling that you’re not moving the bed alone. It effectively replaces a second person.

The decisive difference: scientifically proven, not just claimed

What makes WeAssist special is not only the technology, but also the scientific evidence of its effect. An independent study by FH Münster University of Applied Sciences examined real-world application scenarios with and without WeAssist. Among other factors, hand forces, muscle activity, spinal load, and posture were measured.

The results are clear:

  • up to 67 percent less muscle activity in the muscle groups examined
  • up to 36 percent lower spinal compression forces at the L5/S1 level
  • up to 36 percent less trunk inclination when pushing
  • up to 45 percent lower hand forces

... for caregivers: noticeable relief

For caregivers, WeAssist primarily means one thing: genuine relief in everyday work. It significantly reduces physical strain, supports ergonomic work that protects the back, and lowers stress during demanding transport tasks. This allows caregivers to focus more on the patient instead of maneuvering. The system acts like invisible support – as if a second person were always there.

... for the hospital: measurable efficiency

What provides relief for caregivers is a clear economic lever for hospitals. By enabling beds to be moved by just one person, staff resources can be used more efficiently, workflows can be accelerated, and productivity in daily operations increases. Model-based calculations show potential savings in the millions per year, depending on the size and structure of the hospital. WeAssist turns an everyday process into a measurable efficiency gain.

... for nursing management: fewer absences, greater satisfaction

Reducing physical strain has a direct impact on staff health. It helps reduce back and muscle complaints, sickness-related absences, and overall absence rates while increasing employee satisfaction and motivation. Especially in an environment with rising absence rates, WeAssist becomes a strategic tool for staff retention and reduced workload.
