Frequently Asked Questions
Advantages of Metal Castors
Metal castors are built for strength, durability, and reliability — even under the most demanding conditions. Designed to withstand heavy loads, impacts, and harsh environments, they are commonly used in industrial, commercial, and institutional applications. With a range of sizes, wheel materials, and mounting options, they can be tailored to suit a wide variety of needs.
TENTE metal castors offer various benefits:
High Load Capacity – Thanks to their robust construction, metal castors are ideal for transporting heavy loads without compromising stability. Their solid design allows them to handle high weight capacities over long periods of use.
Exceptional Durability – Built from steel or other sturdy metals, these castors offer excellent resistance to wear, abrasion, and heavy-duty use. This makes them a reliable solution for harsh working environments.
Temperature and Impact Resistance – Metal castors can perform reliably in both hot and cold conditions and are less prone to damage from impacts, making them suitable for demanding industrial use.
Versatile Compatibility – Whether paired with polyurethane, polyamide, or rubber wheels, metal castors adapt to various floor types and applications. They are available in fixed, swivel, stainless, heat resistant and braked designs to meet different mobility needs.
Types of Metal Castors
Metal castors are available in a variety of robust designs to meet the individual requirements of demanding environments. Each type is built to deliver specific advantages - ranging from exceptional load capacity and corrosion resistance to reinforced structures for heavy-duty use. Below are some of the most common types of metal castors and their key benefits:
Heavy Duty Metal Castors
Heavy duty metal castors are engineered to handle extreme loads and demanding usage conditions. They are typically constructed from solid steel with reinforced housings, providing superior load capacity and durability in tough industrial settings. Commonly used on heavy transport trolleys, automated guided vehicles, heavy machinery equipment and more, these castors deliver uncompromising strength and performance. Our strongest heavy duty metal castors – TENTE Omikron twin – can effortlessly handle loads of up to 15,000 kg and with customised versions even up to 30,000 kg. However, our other heavy duty metal castors - such as Delta, Zeta or Kappa - can also carry loads of up to 750 kg, 800 kg or 3,000 kg.
Stainless Steel Castors
Stainless steel castors are designed for environments that demand both corrosion resistance and hygiene. Ideal for use in food processing, medical, and pharmaceutical settings, they offer washability, long service life, and reliability in wet or chemically exposed conditions. Stainless steel castors are available in a variety of configurations to meet the individual requirements of a wide range of applications – for example as heavy duty, heat resistant, or stainless steel castors with brakes.
Zinc-Passivated Steel Castors
Zinc-plated steel castors offer a reliable balance between strength and corrosion protection. The zinc coating provides basic resistance to moisture and environmental wear, making these castors a great fit for general-purpose industrial and commercial applications like transport trolleys, work benches, tool cabinets, and more.
Fields of Application for Metal Castors
Metal castors are the backbone of applications that demand strength, stability, and reliability. Their robust construction makes them indispensable in industrial, logistics, and commercial environments where frequent movement and high load capacity are essential. In industrial settings, they are commonly used on transport trolleys, tool trolleys, and work benches, providing smooth movement under heavy loads and ensuring durable, long-term performance. In logistics and warehousing, metal castors support pallet dollies, roll containers, and AGV systems, enabling efficient handling of goods and reliable performance under continuous use. In retail and commercial applications, they are found on shopping trolleys, display racks, and roll cages, where mobility, sturdiness, and easy maneuvering are required to support flexible layouts and daily operation. No matter the environment, metal castors provide a dependable mobility solution for applications that combine higher load requirements with long service life.
