Start-up, roll and swivel resistance of casters

When it comes to the resistance of casters and wheels, a distinction is made between roll and swivel resistance on the one hand and electrical resistance on the other. In order to move and steer transport equipment, you have to apply force. This force is called roll and swivel resistance. Electrical resistance, on the other hand, refers to the electrical conductivity. 

If you want to set a device in motion, you first have to overcome the starting resistance. The manoeuvrability of the equipment thereafter is then influenced by the rolling and swivel resistance. The resistance depends on various factors, including: 
+ Load 
+ Wheel diameter 
+ Wheel material 
+ Type of bearings 
+ Properties of the floor 
The type, number and arrangement of the casters affect the maneuverability. A device that only needs to be moved in a straing line, for example, can be equipped exclusively with rigid casters. If steering is required, a combination of fixed and swivel casters or the use of swivel casters with a directional lock is ideal.

Electrical resistance
The electrical resistance describes the electrical voltage required to allow an electrical current to flow through a conductor. Antistatic and electrically conductive castors and wheels from TENTE protect against electrostatic discharge. Electric conductive casters and wheels have an ohmic resistance of less than 104 Ω. The ohmic resistance of antistatic casters and wheels is at 107 Ω. 
Electric conductive casters and wheels are important in the medical field, for example, as electrostatic discharges can have far-reaching consequences.
