E-Drive Optima is a motorised assistance system that can be fitted beneath a manually moved indoor trolley as an additional driven unit while the application continues to use four castors. When activated, its drive wheel lowers to the floor to provide powered movement and controlled deceleration. The drive and control functions are combined in a compact module, supporting easier integration into suitable trolley designs.

When its drive wheel is lowered, E-Drive Optima acts as an additional driven contact point beneath the trolley and helps improve directional stability, especially on applications with four castors. With four swivel castors, placing the unit near the centre of the frame supports stable tracking while preserving manoeuvrability. When the drive wheel is raised, the trolley can again be moved freely, including crosswise in confined areas.

In a single set-up, E-Drive Optima can move loads of up to 800 kg. The system adds powered assistance while the trolley continues to run on its four castors, helping reduce the effort needed to start and move demanding loads. The 800 kg figure is a reference value and may vary with floor and environmental conditions, so the castor ratings, trolley design and real operating conditions should be considered together.

In a twin set-up, E-Drive Optima can move loads of up to 1,600 kg. The twin configuration uses two drive units, with each unit connected to its own battery and the two motors linked for coordinated operation. This figure is a reference value and can vary with factors such as the floor and surrounding conditions, so the trolley design, castor load ratings and actual operating environment should also be assessed.

E-Drive Optima may be selected when a trolley needs powered assistance for heavier or more demanding indoor transport, particularly where controlled deceleration adds useful safety support. Its drive and control functions are combined in a compact module, helping simplify integration. Selection should also consider the total load, available mounting space, floor conditions, required speed and any ramp use.

The assisted stop button on E-Drive Optima is the red button on the control handle. When pressed, the drive unit brakes and decelerates the trolley to a standstill, after which the drive wheel lifts from the floor. This provides a clear way to end powered movement. It is not a parking brake, so if the trolley must remain stationary for a longer period, the castor brakes or another suitable immobilising device should be used.

The slowdown function on E-Drive Optima is activated when the thumbwheel returns to its neutral position. The motor brake then assists the operator by reducing speed to about 0.3 km/h before the trolley stops. This function can also assist when travelling downhill. The thumbwheel should not be operated in the opposite direction to slow the trolley, as this can cause premature wear of the drive wheel.

The speed of E-Drive Optima is controlled through the thumbwheel on the handle: the further it is pressed in the chosen direction, the higher the travel speed. Forward and reverse maximum speeds can be configured independently from 1 to 6 km/h. The default settings are 4 km/h forwards and 3 km/h in reverse, allowing the system to be adapted to the trolley and the precision required for manoeuvring.

E-Drive Optima is designed for manually moved indoor vehicles where powered assistance can make moving and manoeuvring easier. Suitable examples include transport trolleys, food distribution trolleys and spider-base equipment. The vehicle must provide sufficient installation space, suitable mounting points and four castors that are correctly rated for the total load and conditions in the intended indoor environment.

E-Drive Optima uses a 24 V, 11.6 Ah lithium-ion battery pack with a 20 A built-in fuse. TENTE battery packs, or batteries with identical characteristics, should be used; connection to other electrical sources requires prior approval. The battery should be removed from its holder for charging with the specified charger and must not be used while charging. A low-charge warning on the handle indicates when recharging or replacement is needed.

For a trolley using fixed castors, E-Drive Optima should be positioned so that its drive wheel is located between the fixed castors. This arrangement supports the trolley's main direction of travel and helps the powered unit work with the existing castor layout. The mounting plate should be aligned with the intended travel direction and designed to withstand both the drive forces and the vertical thrust of the unit.

With four swivel castors, E-Drive Optima is recommended near the centre of the trolley frame, between the front and rear axles. Positioning the drive wheel close to the centre helps the additional driven contact point support stable tracking while retaining the manoeuvrability of the four swivel castors. The mounting plate must also be strong enough to transmit the drive and vertical thrust forces generated in operation.

E-Drive Optima can support travel on ramps with slopes of up to 5%. When moving downhill, returning the thumbwheel to neutral activates motor braking to assist with deceleration. If stopping before the bottom, activate and release the thumbwheel before restarting to maintain motor-brake support. The system is not intended to hold a trolley stationary on a slope, so suitable castor brakes or another parking device are required.
