Maneuverable all-rounders - with swivel castors you will get around every bend
The swivel castor makes vehicles of any size and weight maneuverable and easy to steer. It allows frequent changes of direction - a must for every shopping cart, for example - and remains maneuverable even when things get tight. A vehicle equipped only with swivel castors can easily turn in all directions even on the spot.
Because of this maneuverability, however, the swivel castor is not suitable for long straight runs. For applications that need to travel straight ahead as well as be maneuverable, they are therefore often combined with fixed castors. The most common arrangement is to mount two swivel castors on one side of the vehicle and two fixed castors on the other. The advantage is that this gives the vehicle ideal directional stability and cornering.
In addition to movement, a safe stand is also enormously important for many devices. Whether it's a sales stand or scaffolding on castors - it can be very dangerous without a locking device or brake. Fast and reliable protection against rolling away is ensured, for example, by our central locking systems, which lock or release several castors with just one movement. Another locking technique is total locking. In this case, the wheel and swivel are locked on one swivel castor. The directional lock, on the other hand, facilitates travel on straight stretches because it only locks the swivel movement of the caster. The swivel castor thus becomes a fixed castor for a short time and facilitates handling on straight stretches, for example when pushing hospital beds.
