What castors for fire service roll containers need to offer
Alpha castors for reliable performance
Fire service roll containers need castors that can carry heavy loads reliably, are easy to manoeuvre and continue to operate safely in demanding conditions.
Depending on the version, multiple Alpha castors can be locked or released simultaneously from a central control. Options are available with central wheel locking, directional locking or total locking. This reduces operating effort and the risk of individual castors being left unsecured. The technical design – using profile bars, levers or integrated solutions, for example – can be tailored to the construction and requirements of each fire service roll container.
Versatile configuration options
Depending on the combination of wheel, housing and fitting, the Alpha product family offers features including:
Easy manoeuvring: A swivel bearing with a double ball bearing supports precise steering.
Robust design: Wear-resistant wheel variants withstand heavy use, while sealed bearings protect against water and dirt.
Designed for the operating environment: Heat-resistant and corrosion-resistant versions are available.
High load capacity: Depending on the wheel, housing and fitting combination, the Alpha product family offers load capacities of up to 500 kg per castor.
Alpha castors at Braun Feuerwehrtechnik
Our partnership with Braun Feuerwehrtechnik demonstrates how our solution performs in real operating conditions. The company develops roll containers for fire services that carry hoses, firefighting equipment, flood response equipment, breathing apparatus, and heavy-duty work and rescue equipment.
The roll containers are used in cold and heat, wind and rain, and snow and ice. The combination of high load capacity, easy manoeuvrability, central locking and the dust guard on TENTE Alpha castors enables equipment to be transported safely and flexibly all the way to the incident site.
Thoughtfully engineered safety for heavy roll containers
The Alpha castors on the fire service roll containers are connected by a robust linkage. An operating handle transfers the hand movement via a gas spring to a second bar. This locks or releases all castors simultaneously without bringing the container to an abrupt stop.
An additional dust guard on the swivel bearing limits sideways castor movement. This reduces the risk of tipping when the castors are locked – an important safety feature for heavy roll containers.
