Prizes for superior product quality are awarded at the world's largest furniture supply trade fair: Every two years, interzum, the world's largest trade fair for the furniture supply industry and interior design, takes place in Cologne. Here, exhibitors from more than 60 nations have the opportunity to convince trade visitors of the outstanding quality of their innovative products. The interzum award, which honours a successful combination of functionality and aesthetics, is also presented at the trade fair.
Criteria for the interzum award
Koelnmesse presents the award in cooperation with Red Dot . For the categories of Materials and Surfaces, Glass and Light, Fittings, Upholstered Furniture Production and Bedding, an international jury of five independent experts from the fields of design and architecture select the winners. The design award focuses on innovative design and intelligent details. The criteria according to which the jury confers the interzum award include the degree of innovation, functionality and material quality, as well as formal design and sustainability. The prize is awarded to products that stand out from comparable products. It underlines the importance of design in the furniture industry.
Innovative and recognized: Mobility solutions from TENTE
TENTE casters have received the interzum award many times for their outstanding product quality. The hospital bed casters Linea convinced the jury by combining a minimal overall construction with the safety and running characteristics of a large caster. The clear shapes, harmonious lines and smooth surfaces as well as the attention to hygiene aspects when choosing materials give the patient a feeling of safety.
Linea light 75 deadman brake - Linea safety - is locked as default and can only be moved when the brake is activated. This opens up completely new possibilities for designers involved in the development of mobile furniture: This is why it was also presented with the interzum award. The Aviana series was also a great success. The twin wheel caster for use in aircraft received an award for its outstanding design quality. It is quiet and smooth running and has a secure stand when stationary thanks to the central locking system.
