Frequently Asked Questions
Advantages of Extra Heavy Duty Castors
Extra heavy duty castors are built for demanding applications where each castor must reliably support payloads of over 1,500 kg while starting, rolling, and steering predictably. Our castors combine reinforced housings, with robust wheels and bearings, ensuring long-lasting performance even in the toughest environments. TENTE extra heavy duty castors provide a variety of key advantages:
Durable Construction – Constructed from reinforced materials and engineered for longevity, our extra heavy duty castors are built to endure frequent use while resisting wear, impact, and challenging floor conditions in harsh industrial environments.
Low Maintenance – Options with dust rings and integrated grease nipples simplify lubrication and help maintain smooth running between service intervals.
Optimised Lifecycle Value – By combining long wear life and easier movement, these castors contribute to a lower total cost of ownership in demanding applications.
Adaptable Wheel Options – TENTE extra heavy duty castors are available with a wide range of tread material options to suit different floor types and operating environments
Integrated Safety – For directional stability and secure stationary locking, extra heavy duty castors can be configured with wheel locks and directional locks.
Types of Extra Heavy Duty Castors
Extra heavy duty castors can be configured in a variety of designs to match specific load profiles, drive cycles, and floor conditions. By selecting the right castor housing, wheel material and diameter for your individual environmental requirements, you can optimise rolling effort, manoeuvrability, and service life for demanding use cases. Below are two commonly used types of extra heavy duty castors and their key advantages:
Extra Heavy Duty Polyurethane Castors
Extra heavy duty polyurethane castors combine exceptionally low rolling resistance with outstanding wear resistance under sustained loads. They’re ideal for long runs, frequent stop–start operation, and smooth industrial floors. One representative product line in our range is the TENTE Kappa series. These castors offer smooth running and precise manoeuvring in a compact, welded steel housing. Kappa heavy duty castors with polyurethane wheel tread can also be equipped with a total lock, or directional locking options for improved straight-line guidance on long runs. For tasks that require larger wheel diameters and more than 2400 kg load capacity per castor, have a look at our Omikron twin series. When configured with two 400 mm casted polyurethane wheels, this series can handle payloads of up to 30,000 kg per castor.
Extra Heavy Duty Polyamide Castors
Extra heavy duty polyamide castors are the choice when peak load capacity and dimensional stability matter more than floor care or low noise. Polyamide wheels withstand very high loads and provide a hard, precise running surface, but expect higher surface pressure and louder operation than with softer materials. Generally speaking, castors with polyamide wheels are recommended for indoor use. While ones with polyurethane wheels are all-round talents, capable of handling indoor and outdoor use. Our Omikron twin series uses two super heavy polyamide wheels, paired with precision ball bearings and a robust welded steel housing. Diameter options for polyamide wheels used in our Omikron series range from 100 mm to 400 mm, with the largest configuration being able to carry payloads of 15.000 kg per castor. These extra heavy duty polyamide castors are available as fixed and swivel versions and can be configured with directional lock and wheel lock options.
Fields of Application for Extra Heavy Duty Castors
Extra heavy duty castors are specified wherever extreme payloads, extended duty cycles, and accurate manoeuvring are non-negotiable. In intralogistics and distribution, they support heavy transport solutions and keep high-throughput handling moving in hardware dealer settings. In machinery and workshop equipment – across machine construction, container construction, and transport equipment – they run reliably over industrial floors and tolerate frequent stop–start operation. In the automotive sector, from production and platform trolleys to automotive OEM environments, these castors deliver predictable steering and high rated capacities to keep material flows on schedule.
