Heavy-duty wheels from TENTE

When it comes to transporting particularly heavy loads or coping with higher travel speeds, special wheels are required. TENTE’s heavy-duty wheels are sturdily built and can withstand even heavy loads of several tonnes. The heavy-duty wheels are used, for example, in construction cranes, tugger trains or mobile stairs. The wheels are equipped with a housing made of stainless steel or heavy steel. Heavy-duty wheels and castors are available as fixed or swivel castors. Fixed castors give the application a secure footing, while swivel castors facilitate manoeuvrability. A combination of swivel and fixed castors is often ideal: This makes both travelling straight ahead and manoeuvring heavy loads easier.

Criteria for selecting heavy-duty wheels

Various factors must be considered when selecting "strong" wheels. These include the load-bearing capacity, the starting and rolling resistance, the tread material and environmental influences such as the temperature.

For example, you can calculate the load-bearing capacity you need by dividing the weight of the transport equipment, including the payload, by the number of wheels. Depending on the operating conditions, the result is then multiplied by a safety factor. The safety factor depends on whether the wheels are used outdoors or indoors and whether the devices are motorised or moved manually.
